Profiles definition

Profiles definition dialog is used to define all the profiles needed within the current project for main girder or structural member of cross-frame/stiffener.

On the top of the dialog there are two options in order to selected profile type (Profile type) and name (Profile ID).The Profile type provides a list of standard shapes: I-girder, Spread Box, Channel, Double T-Girder, T-Girder, Open Box, Rect. wo/ Voids, Rect. w/ Circular Voids, JTG-Girder . Once it’s selected, the Profile ID is filled with a categorized list of common profiles from US or China.

These sections are standard sections, and although you cannot add a new type, you can add, delete, or modify an item in the right side Profiles list using the buttons situated on the bottom part of the screen in order to meet the project needs. Note that each profile name (ID) cannot be added twice into list of available profiles in order to avoid inconsistencies. Moreover, once added into list, the name of profile can’t be modified, less its parameters.

Using Customize option the parameters fields become active and you will be able to input your own dimensions and ID for the selected profile type. The name must not correspond to that of an existing standard profile if you decide to use this option.

For I–shaped sections Symmetric option is available to ease the input of profile parameters – changing the top values will update the bottom ones automatically, if option is unchecked the rest of the fields for the bottom part of the section are enabled. This will allow different dimensions for the upper and lower flanges.

After the new dimensions and ID are entered just click Add and the user-defined profile is introduced in the profiles list. For these kind of profiles modify option becomes active and when needed new changes can be applied to an existing profile in the list.
